Editorial note: I’ve been waiting for the right time to post this exciting personal announcement. Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s ever going to be a day where something awful hasn’t happened in our world that makes me feel selfish for asking for money. But then I remind myself that it’s not for me and that cancer is another really messed up part of our world. So without further ado…
I love this picture so much, because I was at the top of the Mile 25 hill during the 2017 Boston Marathon and yet still smiling like a fool despite having run 25 miles with horrible bronchitis on a very hot & sunny day. But I was smiling because I had seen SO MANY OF YOU along the course, cheering me on, and because together WE had already raised over $9,000 for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Even though I said I would never do this again, I’m going back to rewrite the memories of that day to ones that don’t include me being sick and injured. And because $9,075 was just shy of my $10,000 goal.
On April 15, 2019, I will run the 123rd Boston Marathon with the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge, which is celebrating its 30th year as an official charity team. My goal is $10,925 – which will bring my two-year fundraising total to $20,000.
Please consider supporting my run for the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research.
